One of the many places where I was is Brazil, exactly in Rio de Janeiro, during the years 80-90, where instead of losing a few kilo running on the golden beaches of Copacabana or Ipanema, I gained a few kilos more for the kitchen!!
Impossible not to eat the amount of fruit that Brazil offers and at the same time impossible not to enjoy the pleasure of a "Churrasco", the most famous dish of meat cooked over charcoal or wood! A real treat.
In Brazil, churrasco is the term for a barbecue (do not forget in Brasil they talk Portuguese) similar to the Argentine, Uruguayan, Paraguayan and Chilean asado, which originated in southern parts of the country. It uses a variety of meats, pork, sausage and chicken, which may be cooked on a purpose-built "churrasqueira", a barbecue grill, often with supports for spits or skewers. The meat may alternatively be cooked on large metal or wood skewers resting on a support or stuck into the ground and roasted with the embers of charcoal (wood has been used often in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
Together churrasco they use sauce very tasty which generate aroma really particular: Chimichurri, Picanha, Feijoada and so on. But the salads used to accompany this special meat dish are incredible!
So, for the moment enjoy pictures from Rio and its two very wonderful beaches, and after you will be enjoied in looking how to prepare churrasco and others.
